Cache County occupies most of the Utah portion of Cache Valley in the state's far north, ringed by the Wellsville and Bear River mountains. Logan is the county seat and home to Utah State University, while smaller cities such as North Logan, Smithfield, Hyrum and Providence surround it.
The valley has a strong agricultural base alongside the university and manufacturing employers. Housing includes student-area rentals near campus, established neighborhoods in Logan and newer subdivisions and rural acreage across the valley. U.S. 89 and 91 are the main routes south to the Wasatch Front.
